Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is hiring a Utilities Operating Technician for the New Augusta/Leaf River facility. The role safely operates process equipment to meet production and quality goals, attends mandatory trainings, and participates on the Fire & Rescue team.

This position typically works a 12-hour rotating shift, with weekends and holidays possible. Starting pay is $28.28 per hour, with potential to earn up to $43.47 per hour as you progress.

Qualifications

• 2 years of industrial/manufacturing experience or an Associate degree in Process Operations or Electrical/Instrumentation
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel for data entry and document creation

Responsibilities

• Monitor process variables to maintain efficient operations and meet department quality, cost, and production goals
• Progress through the appropriate skills level checklist toward the Control Room Operator position
• Performs equipment cleanup and operator basic care including minor maintenance tasks and troubleshooting
• Performs railcar and tanker truck loading and unloading operations for hazardous materials produced or consumed in the process
• Participates in the mill fire brigade and hazard material teams
• Maintains strict adherence to safety rules and required safety equipment
