Position Summary

This is semi-skilled and skilled work involving the installation, servicing, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of stationary mechanical equipment used in water and wastewater treatment plants, well fields, pumping stations, and solid waste facilities within the Public Works Department on an assigned shift.
This job classification is included within the bargaining unit represented by Teamsters Local Union 769 and is subject to the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Teamsters Local Union 769.

All employees may be required to work before, during, and after emergencies, including assigned shifts as determined by Department Heads.
How To Apply & Additional Information
The examination process may include Evaluation of Training and Experience, Oral Interview, Written Examination, or other assessments. A minimum score of 70 is required in each part. Successful applicants may need to pass a medical exam and drug screening. The application remains open until sufficient applicants are received.
Veterans entering the examination process will receive preference points as per Florida statutes. Applicants claiming veteran’s preference must submit separation papers and the City’s veteran’s preference claim form (J-204).
