Job summary

Michael Foods, Inc. in Mars Hill, ME, seeks a Utilities Maintenance Operator L1 to provide maintenance and reliability services for water/gas/air systems. The role ensures safe operation, performs preventive and corrective maintenance, and supports process improvement projects with the plant team.

Successful candidates will have a technical aptitude, SAP exposure, and a commitment to safety and food quality. Weekend and holiday coverage may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate, or relevant technical experience.
• 1 year of industrial experience with steam or refrigeration preferred.
• Boiler Operator Assistant license or boiler/ammonia certification preferred.
• Ability to read mechanical, piping and electrical schematics/blueprints.
• Prior SAP experience preferred.
• Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate with water/gas/air systems maintenance/operations teams to improve safety, quality, delivery and cost.
• Learn and apply Precision Maintenance techniques and ensure procedures are followed.
• Participate in training for maintenance personnel on critical systems.
• Support reliability procedures for spares and parts.
• Assist in quality commissioning for rebuilt or new systems equipment.
• Assist craftsman on maintenance tasks and troubleshoot technical systems.
• Use CMMS (SAP) to manage reliability reporting and decisions.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate

1 year experience in industrial environment (steam or refrigeration)

Boiler Operator Assistant license or boiler/ammonia certification

Ability to read mechanical, piping, electrical schematics

Prior experience in SAP

Interpersonal skills across all levels

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
