Location

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Mars Hill, Maine. Pineland Farms is one of the largest food manufacturing organizations in Aroostook County. The Mars Hill facility employs over 200 team members who work together to provide customers with the best possible potato product.

Responsibilities

The Maintenance Technician L1 (MTL1) provides both Maintenance and Reliability services within the plant, executing with excellence and assisting with asset health improvement efforts. The MTL1 ensures results while partnering with the plant maintenance team, plant operational team, and all other plant support teams. Key responsibilities include execution of preventive and corrective maintenance programs, technical troubleshooting, equipment installation, adjustments, startups, and process improvement projects. The position requires compliance with all safety, food safety, and quality policies and the ability to work scheduled times, including weekends and holidays.

  • Participate with reliability and maintenance team members to ensure continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Learn and execute Precision Maintenance techniques, ensuring procedural compliance and job tolerances are met.
  • Execute technical troubleshooting tasks with experienced maintenance personnel.
  • Participate in maintenance training for personnel.
  • Participate in reliability procedures for critical spares and parts.
  • Assist in implementing quality commissioning procedures for rebuilt or new equipment.
  • Assist maintenance craftsmen during precision maintenance assignments.
  • Use MFI approved CMMS to manage, document, and support reliability reporting and decision‑making.
  • Keep accurate and up‑to‑date records as required.
  • Provide input for root‑cause analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance to foster continuous asset reliability improvement.
  • Promote and foster Michael Foods culture, values, and principles.
  • Model safe work behaviors and ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone.
  • Adhere to quality work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and report conditions that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree or two‑year technical certificate preferred; experience showing technical aptitude also acceptable.
  • One year of experience as an industrial maintenance technician preferred.
  • Ability to read and decipher mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and P&ID diagrams preferred.
  • Prior experience with SAP preferred.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must talk and listen, stand and walk, and occasionally sit. The employee must use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste and smell. Lifting or moving up to 60 pounds is occasionally required. The job requires close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
