The role focuses on maintenance and reliability for water/gas/air systems, performing preventive and corrective maintenance and assisting with process improvement projects. The UMOL1 will work with the maintenance and operations teams to ensure safety, quality, and efficient operations, including documenting activities in SAP and supporting RCA initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical aptitude preferred.
  • Associate's degree or two-year certificate preferred.
  • 1 year of industrial experience with steam/refrigeration preferred.
  • Boiler Operator Assistant license or boiler/ammonia certification preferred.
  • Ability to read mechanical/electrical schematics and blueprints preferred.
  • Prior SAP experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and operate water/gas/air systems; support asset reliability.
  • Participate in preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and assist with equipment installations.
  • Document maintenance activities and support RCA/asset reliability efforts.
  • Adhere to Safety, GMPs and food quality standards.
  • Support plant continuous improvement projects.

Education

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Mars Hill, Maine. Pineland Farms is one of the largest food manufacturing organizations located in Aroostook County. Our Mars Hill facility has over 200 incredible team members who work together to provide our customers with the best possible potato product.

Responsibilities

SUMMARY:

The Utilities Maintenance Operator L1 (UMOL1) provides both maintenance and reliability services withinthe plant, executing with excellence and assisting with water/gas/air systems asset health improvementefforts. The UMOL1 will ensure results while partnering with the plant maintenance team personnel, plantoperational team, and all other plant support teams members for success. The UMOL1 focusresponsibilities are assistance and executional excellence of facility water/gas/air systems safe operationand preventive and corrective maintenance programs. Other duties will include technical troubleshooting,assisting with equipment installation, adjustments, startups, and process improvement projects. They willassist and execute with excellence in preventive and corrective maintenance practices. Candidates mustbe a self-starter willing to assist in operational, maintenance, and process responsibilities and KPIresults.

This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligationto reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to FoodSafety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and processvariability. This role must be available to work scheduled work times, weekends, and holidays, asnecessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate with water/gas/air systems maintenance/operations team members and tasks to ensure personal safety, quality, delivery, and cost, are continuously being improved to achieve company objectives. Be an active member who contributes to the advancement of the MFI & ARM culture.
  • Learn and execute Precision Maintenance® techniques ensuring procedural compliance and that job tolerances are met
  • Actively participate in critical water/gas/air systems training for maintenance/operations personnel
  • Actively participate in implementing quality assurance and reliability procedures for critical water/gas/air systems spares and parts
  • Actively participate in quality commissioning procedures for critical rebuilt or new water/gas/air systems equipment
  • Actively participate and assist craftsman during critical water/gas/air systems maintenance assignments
  • Learn and execute technical water/gas/air systems troubleshooting tasks while working with experienced personnel
  • Utilize MFI approved CMMS to manage, document, and support water/gas/air systems reliability reporting and decision making. This will be accomplished through the guidance of MFI ARM standards.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records (i.e., SAP data, regulatory documentation etc..).
  • Provides input for root cause analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance to create an environment of continuous asset reliability improvement.
  • Promote, and foster Michael Foods culture, values, and principles.

  • Adheres to Quality work practices, follows GMP’s, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained. Reports on any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
  • Always ensures required regulatory compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent
  • Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate, or experience which demonstrates technical aptitude preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in an industrial environment with an emphasis on steam or refrigeration preferred
  • Boiler Operator Assistant license or boiler/ammonia equivalent certification preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical, piping, and/or electrical schematics and blueprints including equipment specific diagrams preferred
  • Prior experience in SAP preferred.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands tofinger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl;taste and smell. The pay range for this position is $23.97 to $30.60 per hour.
