Job summary

Michael Foods, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician L3 (MTL3) at our Norwalk, Iowa facility. The role combines preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and process improvements to support asset reliability and safety.

You will work with the plant maintenance, operations, and support teams to meet performance goals. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of maintenance experience, SAP familiarity, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Associate degree or two-year technical certificate preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a maintenance technician preferred.
  • Trained and competent in MFI MTL1 & MTL2, skills preferred.
  • Ability to read and decipher mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and P&ID diagrams preferred.
  • Prior experience in SAP preferred.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent administrative and follow-up skills to achieve successful maintenance and repair programs.

Responsibilities

  • Participate with reliability and maintenance team to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvements.
  • Develop, implement, and champion Precision Maintenance techniques ensuring procedural compliance and tolerance.
  • Lead technical troubleshooting tasks while assisting plant personnel in a teaching environment.
  • Identify and implement reliability and performance improvement projects.
  • Participate in maintenance training for maintenance personnel.
  • Follow reliability procedures for critical spares and parts.
  • Implement quality commissioning procedures for rebuilt or new equipment.
  • Work with vendors to address issues identified through root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

*This is a day shift role, from 6am to 4pm M-F*

SUMMARY:

TheMaintenanceTechnician L3(MTL3)provides both Maintenance and Reliability services within the plant,executing withexcellence andassistingwithasset health improvement efforts. TheMTL3will ensure results while partnering with theplant maintenance team personnel, plant operational team, and all other plant supportteamsmembers for success.TheMTL3focusresponsibilitiesareassistance, development, and executional excellenceoffacility preventive and corrective maintenance programs.Other dutieswillincludetechnical troubleshooting,equipmentinstallation, adjustments, startups, andprocess improvementprojects.They will promote, execute, mentor, and coach excellence in preventive and corrective maintenance practices.Candidates must be a self-starter willing to acceptmaintenanceand processresponsibility and KPI results.This position has the responsibility tocomply withSafety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures andactivities,related to Food Safety &Quality,are followed andcomplied withuniformly,in an effort toreduce product and process variability.This role must be available to workscheduled work times,weekends,andholidays,as necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participatewithreliabilityand maintenanceteam membersto ensure personal safety, quality, delivery, and cost, are continuously being improved to achieve companyobjectives.Be an active member who contributes to the advancement of theMFI & ARMculture.

  • Develop, implement, and champion Precision Maintenance®techniquesensuringprocedural compliance and that job tolerances are met

  • Lead technical troubleshooting taskswhileassistingother plant personnel in a teaching environment

  • Identify, develop, and implement reliability and performance improvement projects

  • Activelyparticipateinmaintenancetraining for maintenance personnel

  • Activelyparticipatein followingreliabilityprocedures for critical spares and parts

  • Activelyparticipateinimplementingquality commissioning procedures for rebuilt or new equipment

  • Work with vendors in addressing issuesidentifiedthrough root cause and condition-based maintenance programs

  • Activelyparticipateandassistmaintenancecraftsman during precisionmaintenanceassignments

  • UtilizeMFI approvedCMMS tomanage, document, andsupportreliabilityreporting and decision making.This will beaccomplishedthroughthe guidance ofMFI ARM standards.

  • Keepaccurateand up-to-date records asrequired.

  • Provides input for root cause analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance to create an environment of continuous asset reliability improvement.

  • Promote, and foster Michael Foods culture,values,and principles.

  • Act as a role model bydemonstratingsafe work behaviors.Assumes personal responsibility toinsuresafeand healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and proceduresandincorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
