Job summary

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and understand mechanical, piping, and/or electrical schematics and blueprints including equipment specific diagrams preferred.
  • Prior experience in SAP preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate with water/gas/air systems maintenance/operations team members to ensure personal safety, quality, delivery, and cost are continuously improved to achieve company objectives.
  • Learn and execute Precision Maintenance® techniques ensuring procedural compliance and job tolerances are met.
  • Actively participate in critical water/gas/air systems training for maintenance/operations personnel.
  • Implement quality assurance and reliability procedures for critical water/gas/air systems spares and parts.
  • Participate and assist craftsman during critical water/gas/air systems maintenance assignments.
  • Learn and execute technical water/gas/air systems troubleshooting tasks while working with experienced personnel.
  • Utilize MFI approved CMMS to manage, document, and support water/gas/air systems reliability reporting and decision making based on MFI ARM standards.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records, e.g., SAP data and regulatory documentation.
  • Provide input for root cause analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance to create continuous asset reliability improvement.
  • Promote and foster Michael Foods culture, values, and principles.
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviors, assumes personal responsibility for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone.
  • Adhere to quality work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure that product quality is maintained.
  • Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
  • Always ensure required regulatory compliance.

Location Description

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Lenox, Iowa and often called the "Pearl of the Prairie". Lenox offers small‑town living with close proximity to Des Moines, Omaha, and Kansas City. The town has a population of around 1,400 and is surrounded by productive fields of corn, beans, and other croplands. Events include a four‑day rodeo in July, a 36‑hole golf course, lakes for fishing and boating, hunting areas, a city park with a swimming pool, and several picnic parks. The MFI facility in Lenox primarily produces pre‑cooked egg patties. The friendly, safe environment and progressive spirit make Lenox a great place to live, work, play, and raise a family.

Position Summary

Repair, install, and troubleshoot boiler and refrigeration systems throughout the plant. This position has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules at all times and reinforce safety as a core value. All policies, procedures, and activities related to food safety and quality must be followed and complied with uniformly to reduce product and process variability.

Summary

The Utilities Maintenance Operator L1 (UMOL1) provides maintenance and reliability services within the plant, executing with excellence and assisting with water/gas/air systems asset health improvement efforts. The UMOL1 ensures results while partnering with plant maintenance, operational, and support teams for success. Responsibilities include assistance and executional excellence of facility water/gas/air systems safe operation and preventive and corrective maintenance programs. Other duties include technical troubleshooting, equipment installation, adjustments, startups, and process improvement projects. The role is a self‑starter willing to assist in operational, maintenance, and process responsibilities and KPI results. Availability for scheduled work times, weekends, and holidays is required.

  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen, stand and walk, occasionally sit, use hands to finger, handle, and feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
