Job summary

A prominent county authority seeks an Environmental Services Manager to oversee water and wastewater maintenance operations. Job description

Manages all Environmental Services water and wastewater maintenance personnel and contractors. Responsible for preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of water, wastewater, and reclaim facilities. Manages related contracts and assists in developing and overseeing the implementation of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Produces management reports to track work performance and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Salary will be determined based on qualifications of candidates exceeding minimum requirements outlined in the job description.

Additional compensation may be provided based on licensure.

  • Plans, schedules, and directs maintenance of specialized mechanical and electrical equipment, including buildings, structures, and grounds.
  • Assigns, coordinates, and supervises personnel and materials for maintenance and repair of treatment facilities.
  • Estimates costs and time for maintenance, repair, and construction projects.
  • Diagnoses malfunctions and determines corrective actions.
  • Inspects facilities and equipment for maintenance needs.
  • Prepares sketches for maintenance, repair, and construction jobs.
  • Ensures proper use of tools, materials, and safety equipment.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, plans, and specifications.
  • Performs skilled mechanical repairs on motors, pumps, and process equipment.
  • Collaborates with department managers on workload planning and maintenance scheduling.
  • Reviews ongoing work projects.
  • Develops and enforces safety regulations and procedures.
  • Maintains records of maintenance activities and prepares reports.
  • Determines remedial actions during emergencies.
  • Provides training to maintenance staff.
  • Establishes relationships with other managers and supervisors.
  • Manages database organization, policy setting, and technology interfaces with JD Edwards CMMS and field devices.
  • Produces maintenance reports and tracks KPIs.
  • Additional Duties: Performs other assigned tasks.

In emergencies, all employees are considered essential and may be required for 24-hour onsite support or alternate duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Five (5) years of supervisory maintenance or construction experience, preferably in public utilities or water/wastewater industry.
  • Equivalent higher education, military training, or extensive experience may substitute.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License, Class E.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation procedures related to water and wastewater facilities.
  • Understanding of maintenance program principles, safety practices, and relevant laws.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Participation in required county and department training.
