Manages all Environmental Services water and wastewater maintenance personnel and Contractors. Responsible for the preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of water, wastewater, and reclaim facilities. Manages contracts related to the maintenance of the treatment facilities. Assists in the development and oversees the implementation of the computerized maintenance management systems. Produces management reports for tracking work performance and Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
Essential Functions
- Plans, schedules, and directs maintenance of specialized mechanical and electrical equipment, including buildings, structures, and grounds.
- Assigns, coordinates, and supervises personnel and materials required for maintenance and repair of water and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Estimates costs and time for maintenance, repair, and construction work.
- Diagnoses malfunctions and determines effective courses of action for correction.
- Inspects buildings and equipment for maintenance and repair needs.
- Prepares sketches of maintenance, repair, and construction jobs.
- Ensures proper use and care of tools, materials, and safety equipment.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, schematics, plans, and specifications.
- Performs skilled mechanical repairs on plant motors, pumps, and process equipment.
- Coordinates with other department managers for workload planning.
- Develops, implements, and enforces safety regulations.
- Maintains records of maintenance work and prepares reports.
- Determines remedial actions in emergencies.
- Provides training to maintenance employees.
- Establishes relationships with other managers and supervisors.
- Manages database decisions, policy protocols, and technology interfaces with JD Edwards CMMS.
- Produces maintenance reports and tracks KPIs.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Five (5) years supervisory experience in maintenance or construction, preferably in public utilities or water/wastewater industry.
- Higher education, military training, or extensive experience may substitute.
Additional Requirements
- Valid Florida Driver's License, Class "E".
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and I&C systems related to water and wastewater facilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
