Job Summary

The Laborer is responsible for onsite execution of all assigned tasks. Through daily coordination with the Carpenter Foreman and/or Superintendent, the laborer will track and complete tasks to facilitate the needs of the project team and schedule. He/she will assist the project team in the field to maintain the professional appearance of the project as well as JHL's safety and quality programs.

Reports to: Foreman and Superintendent

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Requirements and Qualifications

• Perform physical labor on a construction site
• Assist with demolition and dismantling of buildings/structures
• Operate equipment such as skid-steers, lifts, and forklifts
• Place and finish concrete
• Move and handle materials around the site
• Coordinate with the Carpenter, Foreman, and/or Superintendent on task prioritization and decisions related to subcontractors
• Work with compressed air tools
• Clear, excavate, fill, backfill, grade, landscape, and perform related labor
• Perform watchman duties including flagging, debris handling, firewatch, and tending heaters and pumps
• Prepare, handle, and convey materials manually or mechanically
• Perform general site cleanup and debris removal
• Handle and cure concrete, mortar, or other materials, including weather protection
• Build, install, and dismantle scaffolds and formwork
• Mix, convey, pour, vibrate, and finish concrete or aggregates
• Dismantle forms and falsework, operate concrete conveyance equipment
• Assist with concrete finishing, void filling, and patching
• Move, clean, oil, and carry forms and equipment
• Place grade markers and run errands as assigned
• Other duties as assigned, may include overtime

Education / Experience

• High School Diploma or GED preferred

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Maintain OSHA 10 (minimum) and refresher training
• Obtain project-specific safety training as required

Physical Requirements

• Stand or kneel for up to 90%
• Speak, write, and comprehend English (50%)
• Lift tools and supplies up to 50 lbs (40%)
• Hear clearly (100%)
• Stoop, kneel, bend, reach (100%)
• Manipulate tools and materials (100%)
