Job summary

The City of Westminster is seeking a Utilities Equipment Operator I or II in the Utilities Department to maintain critical water, sewer, stormwater, and fiber infrastructure. This entry-to-mid level role includes paid training, skill development, and long-term growth in a high-demand public works field, with safety, on-call shifts, and emergency response responsibilities.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and willingness to learn equipment operation

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate and learn to use equipment (backhoes, loaders, skid steers, dump trucks, tools)
  • Assist with construction, maintenance, and repair of water, sewer, stormwater, and fiber systems
  • Perform digging, backfilling, site restoration, and clean-up
  • Help locate underground utilities and support safe excavation
  • Respond to service calls and emergencies
  • Use mobile tools to track and document work
  • Maintain equipment and follow safety procedures
