Job summary

SGS Consulting in California City, CA seeks a utilities/process engineer to identify, analyze, and implement improvements for utility, facility, and process systems within a GMP environment.

You will provide technical support for WFI, WRO, clean steam, and water pretreatment, monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure uninterrupted utility supply for manufacturing; lead and support projects from design through validation, and develop URS, RFQs, PFDs, P&IDs, FAT/SAT/IQ protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline; 3–8+ years in utilities or process engineering preferred.
• Experience supporting water systems, clean steam, compressed gases, wastewater, and process utility infrastructure considered a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify, analyze, and implement improvements for utility, facility, and process systems.
• Provide technical support for utility systems (WFI, WRO, clean steam, water pretreatment, distribution).
• Monitor utility system performance and troubleshoot equipment/process issues.
• Ensure uninterrupted utility supply to support manufacturing operations.
• Lead or support engineering projects through design, construction, commissioning, validation, and close-out.
• Develop and review project documentation (URS, RFQs, specifications, PFDs, P&IDs, FAT/SAT/IQ).
• Support deviations, investigations, CAPAs, and audit readiness.
• Ensure compliance with FDA, EMA, and cGMP requirements.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Facilities, and Global Engineering teams.
• Provide technical guidance to utility operators and maintenance personnel.
• Drive continuous improvement to optimize system performance and engineering standards.
