Job summary

The City of Lexington invites applications for a Utilities Engineer to advance water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The Utilities Engineer performs advanced engineering work for the Water/Wastewater utility systems, including planning, design review, capital project delivery, construction administration, regulatory coordination, and technical review of public utility infrastructure. This position serves as the City’s in-house engineering resource for assigned utility projects and works closely with City departments, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, biological/agricultural engineering, or a closely related engineering field from an accredited program.
• Possession of Engineer in Training (EIT) or ability to obtain it within six (6) months.
• Two years of relevant engineering experience involving civil infrastructure, water, wastewater, utilities, development review, construction administration, capital project delivery, or similar public infrastructure work.
• Experience coordinating consultants, contractors, developers, regulatory agencies, or internal technical teams.
• Valid NC driver’s license or valid out-of-state driver’s license with the ability to obtain a valid NC driver’s license within sixty days of employment and good driving record

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Paid bi-weekly.
Must be able to attend meetings as required
