Job summary

The City of Fort Lauderdale is seeking a CDL-qualified technician to maintain water, wastewater and stormwater systems. You will perform installation, repair, and inspection work, and operate a range of heavy machinery to support city infrastructure.

Responsibilities include responding to service requests, locating lines, and ensuring safety and compliance. The role may require night or weekend shifts and standby for emergencies. Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDL Class B or higher with Air Brakes and clean driving record.
• Tanker endorsement preferred when operating tanker/vactor trucks.

Responsibilities

• Participates in installation, maintenance, and repairs of water distribution, wastewater and stormwater systems.
• Responds to customer complaints; locates service lines, detects leaks, excavates, and repairs lines.
• Inspects water mains, meters, valves, hydrants, and sewer lines for conditions and repairs.
• Operates a variety of machinery and equipment as needed for duties.
• May be required to work nights, weekends, and stand-by for emergencies.
• Ensures compliance with safety regulations and standard operating procedures.
