Job summary

The Village of Glen Ellyn Public Works Department is seeking a full-time Crew Leader I or II to supervise and perform skilled maintenance on water, sewer, and related infrastructure. This role leads staff, coordinates equipment and materials, and responds to emergencies while ensuring safe work practices.

Eligible candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent; CDL class B is required, with A preferred. Prior supervisory experience in utilities is highly desired.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree or advanced training preferred.
• CLI requires 3–5 years in underground utilities; CLII requires 6+ years with 3 in a supervisory role.
• Valid driver’s license Class B CDL, with air brake or ability to obtain; CDL A preferred.
• Experience operating heavy‑duty equipment (backhoe, loader, skid steer, snowplow).

Responsibilities

• Lead daily work of crew performing maintenance on water and sewer systems.
• Plan schedules, assign tasks, and review work performance.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with contractors.
• Maintain records of time, materials, and work performed.
• Ensure safety and proper operation of equipment.
