Job summary

The Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC) is seeking a Utilities Accountant in Indianapolis to advocate for utility customers before the IURC, applying accounting principles, auditing financial records, and reviewing Form 1s. The role emphasizes expert judgment in rate changes and extensive testimonial writing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with at least two years agency or industry experience.
  • Master’s degree in Accounting or CPA certification is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical opinions through analyses of all relevant utility applications, petitions, testimony, schedules, and exhibits.
  • Review financial records, Form 1 filings, and rate design studies as needed.
  • Prepare persuasive testimony and exhibits to support OUCC positions.
  • Lead case teams and coordinate with attorneys, economists, engineers and other specialists.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional standards in all work products.
