Job summary

Valar Atomics Inc. is seeking a Safety Basis and USQ Coordinator in Torrance, CA, with regular presence at the Orangeville, UT reactor site. You will coordinate the safety case for the operating facility, interfacing daily with design, licensing, and safety analysis teams.

You will run the USQ process end to end, manage evaluations, and ensure design changes are screened for safety basis impact under schedule pressure. This role requires nuclear or high-consequence regulated industry experience.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in safety analysis or safety engineering in nuclear or other high-consequence regulated industries.
• Experience building/maintaining safety cases and handling change control.
• Ability to run a controlled, deadline-driven process across engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate plant safety analysis and safety requirements with design, licensing, and safety teams and keep them current as the plant evolves.
• Lead the Unreviewed Safety Question process from intake to regulator submittal and approval.
• Evaluate and report conditions that may impact safety analyses and license commitments.
• Ensure every design change is screened for safety basis impact before implementation.
• Support safety case for new reactor designs and lifecycle management.
