Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking an Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of its advanced nuclear and fuel systems pilot facility in Orangeville, UT. You will guide reactor and TRISO fuel fabrication activities, manage radiation safety and regulatory compliance, and drive operational excellence across shifts and teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or equivalent experience in engineering, nuclear technology or related field.
• 5+ years in power plant, nuclear, or advanced manufacturing operations.
• Proven leadership in operations, maintenance, or production environments.
• Strong knowledge of industrial safety, radiation protection, and QA programs.
• Willingness to travel to Los Angeles for coordination and training.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of reactor and fuel plant operators; foster safety culture.
• Oversee daily operations of advanced high-temperature reactor systems and TRISO fuel fabrication processes.
• Manage radiation protection, safety, and environmental compliance programs with EHS/regulatory teams.
• Develop, implement, and maintain operating procedures, training programs, and qualification standards.
• Plan and manage budgets, staffing, and scheduling for operations and maintenance.
• Support commissioning, startup, and performance testing for reactor and fuel systems.
• Monitor and analyze operational data to ensure efficiency and performance goals.
• Coordinate cross-functional efforts between engineering, QA, and regulatory teams.
• Promote a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
