Job summary

Fashion Institute of Technology seeks a full-time Event Audio/Video Production staff member to set up, operate, and troubleshoot live, hybrid, and virtual events across multiple FIT venues. Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and strike professional audio, video, camera, presentation, and related event technology for live, hybrid, and virtual events.
  • Serve in assigned production roles including audio operator, camera operator, presentation/video operator, and other technical positions based on event needs.
  • Operate sound reinforcement systems, including mixing consoles, microphones, loudspeakers, playback systems, and assistive listening equipment.
  • Operate cameras, media playback, display, and video systems while maintaining safe and professional equipment and cable placement.
  • Serve as Event Lead when assigned, coordinating technical crews, rehearsals, load-in, event cues, production workflow, and event closeout.
  • Review event schedules, production plans, and technical requirements; communicate effectively with event managers, clients, and production staff throughout the event process.
  • Test, troubleshoot, maintain, organize, inventory, and properly store EMFR equipment, cabling, accessories, and supplies.
  • Identify and document equipment failures, production issues, and maintenance needs and assist with their timely resolution.
  • Support equipment load-in, setup, breakdown, and movement throughout EMFR venues and support spaces, including work at height when required.
  • Follow department procedures and established safety, professional, and industry practices while operating event production equipment.
  • Participate in technical training and cross-training and assist with the training of staff and student employees as assigned.

Essential Functions
Event Audio/Video Production

Salary

Salary: $64,663.77 per year.

Hiring Salary: $64,663.77 per year with step increments per Salary Schedule 91, after one year of service and annually thereafter.

Work Schedule

This position supports events across multiple FIT venues and requires schedule flexibility based on production needs, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Days/Hours: M-F, 35 hours per week, in person; work schedule subject to change based on needs of the department.

The working conditions for this position may be in any combination of an office space, classroom, lab, loading dock, event venue, or outdoors with potential exposure to noise levels above average, machinery, and equipment requiring specialized training. The physical requirement for this position will require occasional sitting, constant standing, constant bending, constant walking, occasional climbing, frequent pulling, pushing, or reaching, frequent repetitive motions, constant use of hands to handle objects or tools, frequently lifting up to 20 lbs., and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
