Centurion Consulting is looking for a User Experience Designer to support one of our clients remotely.

Division and Unit Overview
The mission of the Communications Division is to provide news and information and to communicate the vital role of chemical professionals and the chemical sciences in solving critical global challenges and improving everyday life. Its strategic objectives reflect the responsiveness of the Division in fulfilling the vision, mission, and values of our Client and meeting the needs of the changing chemical enterprise. Digital Product & Experience Strategy Team serves our constituents by enhancing user and customer interactions and delivering value across all digital channels in the world of chemistry.

Position Summary
The UX Team is seeking an energetic and skilled UX/UI Designer with a passion for delivering data-driven, user-centered design solutions. This role will involve translating business requirements, research findings, and data into actionable strategies. It involves solving complex design challenges, optimizing solutions using both qualitative and quantitative insights, and presenting design concepts with clarity and impact. The ideal candidate will have a strong design background, excellent storytelling ability, and experience leading or participating in design sprints and facilitating workshops in fast-paced environments.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that design decisions align with business goals and user needs, all while maintaining adherence to the company’s brand and design system.

Key responsibilities include:
● Leading the end-to-end design process and working closely with business stakeholders, product managers, technology team, and researchers to ship impactful products that meet user needs and business goals.
● Create wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and interactive prototypes that effectively communicate design concepts and strategy.
● Adhere to and contribute to the company's design system, ensuring consistency and alignment across all digital products and design work.
● Take multiple design perspectives into account and unify them to ensure a consistent user experience across different products while aligning with the company’s overall brand.
● Optimize designs based on data insights, including user research, analytics, usability testing, and A/B testing.
● Present design to stakeholders, articulating the value of design decisions and goals.
● Facilitate and/or participate in design sprints, workshops, and critiques to collaborate with cross-functional teams and continuously refine design solutions.
● Actively soliciting feedback from peers and cross-functional stakeholders through the product design lifecycle.
● Advocate for user-centered design principles and ensure accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA, Section 508) are met.
● Efficiently organizing, managing, and adapting to changing priorities.
● * Provide basic front-end development support in technical implementation.

Desired Skills & Experience Required
● Degree in Digital Design, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), graphic design, visual communication or equivalent and 4+ years of experience in UX/UI design.
● 2+ years of experience working on design systems.
● Strong expertise in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, and others.
● Strong understanding of user-centered design, usability principles, accessibility guidelines, and the latest trends in UX/UI design.
● Strong presentation skills with the ability to articulate design vision and strategy to stakeholders.
● Experience in leading design sprints, workshops, design sessions and critiques in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
● Be proficient with web standards, cross-browser compatibility, responsive design, and progressive enhancement strategies (mobile-first design)
● Familiarity with various UX research tools, Agile and Lean UX methodologies
● Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and using data to drive design decisions.
● Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
● A strong portfolio showcasing your design work, process and final outcomes, including but not limited to wireframes, interactive prototypes, user flows, open source project contributions.
● Detail-oriented with strong interpersonal skills and teamwork
● Incredible organization, communication, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
● A growth mindset and keen sense of curiosity, always looking to improve things and new innovations.

Highly preferred
● Experience in customer-facing or consulting roles with a focus on UX design.
● Prior experience leading design and user experience for projects.
● Ability to gather and analyze web traffic data to drive design decisions.
● Knowledge in WCAG 2.0+ AA and Section 508 accessibility guidelines.
