Job summary

Google is seeking a design intern for a 12-week UX internship in the United States. You will help shape user interfaces, create storyboards and prototypes, and work across product, engineering, research, and content teams to deliver intuitive experiences.

Applicants must be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Design, CS, or related fields, possess proficiency with standard design tools, and showcase a strong portfolio of web/mobile projects.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design (e.g., Interaction, Graphic, Visual Communications, Product, Industrial, etc.), Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience with industry standard design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.).
• Experience in designing usable interfaces.
• A design portfolio showcasing design principles for web or mobile platforms.

Responsibilities

• Define the user model and user interface for Google products and features.
• Develop high level or detailed storyboards, mockups, and prototypes to communicate interaction and design ideas.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, researchers, writers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements and provide creative solutions.
• Evaluate the usability of new and existing products and suggest improvements.

This internship is intended for students in their penultimate academic year, who are pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Design (e.g., Interaction, Graphic, Visual Communications, Product, Industrial, etc.), Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.

Google is a global company and, in order to facilitate efficient collaboration and communication globally, English proficiency is a requirement for this internship program.

In accordance with Washington state law, we are highlighting our comprehensive benefits package, which is available to all eligible US based Interns. Benefits for this role include:

• Health, dental, vision insurance
• Sick Time: 40 hours/year (increased to 69 hours/year for Seattle) including 5 discretionary sick days per instance
• Holidays: 13 paid days per year

This role may also be located in our Playa Vista, CA campus.

Minimum qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design (e.g., Interaction, Graphic, Visual Communications, Product, Industrial, etc.), Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience with industry standard design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.).

Preferred qualifications

• Currently attending a degree program in the US and available to work full time for 12 weeks outside of university term time.
• In their penultimate academic year or returning to a degree program after completion of the internship.
• Experience working with web or mobile based technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Android Studio, XCode, etc.).
• UX internship or experience working (e.g., personal projects, academic projects, volunteer projects, etc.) in Interaction, Graphic Design or Motion Design.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
