Job summary

Google UX Engineer internship invites PhD students to work with multidisciplinary teams to craft front-end experiences. You’ll bridge UX practices with production, delivering high‑quality UI features to a global audience.

The role emphasizes collaboration with designers, PMs and engineers, building high‑fidelity prototypes and exploring multimodal AI interfaces using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern frontend frameworks.

This internship is intended for students who are currently pursuing a PhD degree program in Computer Science, HCI, Design or related technical field.

This role may also be located in our Playa Vista, CA campus.

Minimum qualifications

• Currently pursuing a PhD degree in Computer Science, HCI, Design, or related technical field.
• Experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience in designing and implementing user interfaces (UIs).

Preferred qualifications

• Currently attending a degree program in the US and available to work full time for 12 weeks outside of university term.
• In penultimate academic year or returning to a degree program after completion of the internship.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks and libraries (e.g., React, TypeScript, Angular, Vue, etc.).
• Experience developing high-fidelity interactive prototypes, multimodal AI interfaces, or novel interaction models.
• Experience coding in Python, TypeScript, Go, C++, Java, Swift, or Kotlin.

US: $106000 - $141000 (USD) + 0% bonus target

• Work closely with UX designers, project managers and back-end engineers to implement versatile front-end solutions to web development issues.
