Job summary

McGrath Chevrolet of Dubuque is seeking an experienced Used Car Reconditioning Technician to join our team. You will inspect, diagnose, repair, and recondition pre-owned vehicles to meet safety and quality standards, preparing them for resale.

You should have at least 2 years of automotive technician experience, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative shop environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of professional automotive technician or mechanic experience required.
• Strong mechanical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience performing automotive repairs, maintenance, and vehicle inspections.
• Ability to diagnose and repair a variety of vehicle makes and models.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently, manage repair priorities, and meet reconditioning timelines.
• Dependable, motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Previous used vehicle reconditioning or dealership technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive inspections and evaluate used vehicles to identify mechanical, safety, and maintenance needs.
• Diagnose and repair automotive systems, including brakes, suspension, steering, electrical, and engine components.
• Complete used vehicle reconditioning, preventative maintenance, and necessary repairs to prepare vehicles for resale.
• Identify and communicate recommended repairs, parts needs, and vehicle concerns to the appropriate team members.
• Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining dealership safety, quality, and reconditioning standards.
• Document inspections, repairs, and completed work accurately in dealership systems.
• Work closely with the used car, service, and parts departments to keep vehicles moving through the reconditioning process.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while properly using tools and equipment.
