McGrath Chevrolet of Dubuque is seeking a Used Car Reconditioning Technician to inspect, diagnose, repair, and prepare pre-owned vehicles for resale in a fast‑paced, team‑driven shop in Dubuque, IA.

The role focuses on mechanical repairs, maintenance, and safety/quality standards to ensure every vehicle is ready for its next owner. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of tech experience and pride in high‑quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of professional automotive technician or mechanic experience.
• Strong mechanical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience performing automotive repairs, maintenance, and vehicle inspections.
• Ability to diagnose and repair a variety of vehicle makes and models.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive inspections and evaluate used vehicles to identify mechanical, safety, and maintenance needs.
• Diagnose and repair automotive systems, including brakes, suspension, steering, electrical, and engine components.
• Complete used vehicle reconditioning, preventative maintenance, and necessary repairs to prepare vehicles for resale.
• Identify and communicate recommended repairs, parts needs, and vehicle concerns to the appropriate team members.
• Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining dealership safety, quality, and reconditioning standards.
• Document inspections, repairs, and completed work accurately in dealership systems.
• Work closely with the used car, service, and parts departments to keep vehicles moving through the reconditioning process.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while properly using tools and equipment.
