Job summary

Alcatraz Cruises seeks an experienced Captain to operate a USCG-inspected small passenger vessel under contract with the National Park Service in the San Francisco area. The Captain will lead, supervise, and train a deck crew, plan drills, and ensure safety and environmental standards are met while delivering a quality passenger experience.

Responsibilities include direct command of the vessel, discipline and performance reviews, and maintaining logs and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• USCG Inland Masters (100 ton) or equivalent.
• FCC Marine Radio License required.
• California driver’s license with clean record preferred.
• Two years of boat handling experience beneficial.
• Customer service experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Serve as master in navigational command.
• Ensure safety of crew and passengers and compliance with USCG rules.
• Directly manage, supervise, and train crew members.
• Lead training, drills, and emergency preparedness.
• Conduct regular crew performance reviews and evaluations.
• Maintain vessel operations logs and records.
• Oversee adherence to environmental practices and company policies.
• Monitor crew attendance and ensure compliance with labor laws.
