Job summary

Walmart Greenville TX is seeking a full-time Technician, Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration, to install, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial settings. You’ll diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure EPA 608 compliance while coordinating with teams across locations.

You will lead technicians, manage service calls, and work on-call to address critical needs. A valid HVAC/R cert and driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
• HVAC/R journeyman where required.
• Valid state driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC/refrigeration systems per codes and standards.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues in commercial systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance to optimize performance and reduce downtime.
• Maintain refrigeration units (racks, walk-ins, reach-ins) per EPA 608 protocols.
• Lead and mentor field technicians on procedures and safety.
• Coordinate service calls, manage workload, document refrigerant usage.
• Operate company vehicles safely for service calls in assigned regions.
• Participate in on-call rotations for critical issues.

The Technician collaborates with management and team members to deliver quality service, supports operational needs across multiple locations, and participates in on-call rotations to address critical issues promptly. What you’ll bring:

• Proven experience installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial or industrial settings.
• Ability to interpret layout plans, schematics, and building codes to ensure accurate system configuration and compliance.
• Skilled in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues and implementing effective solutions.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols.
• Experience leading teams and mentoring less-experienced technicians on technical and safety practices.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical issues and coordinate with customers and service providers.
• Capability to manage service calls, use digital scheduling tools, and maintain accurate documentation.

  The hourly wage range for this position is $29.00 - $58.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications…

Option 1: Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
Option 2: 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field.
Hold and maintains Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
