What you’ll do
Role summary:
- Define and champion front-end architecture — architect scalable, maintainable, and resilient web systems for complex, high-traffic customer experiences; drive pragmatic technical decisions balancing performance, scalability, delivery speed, and long-term maintainability.
- Build high-quality web experiences — design and develop performant, accessible, and responsive applications using React, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS; set the quality bar for reliability, consistency, and customer impact.
- Shape cross-team technical strategy — partner with Product, UX, backend, platform, and data engineering teams to translate ambiguous business problems into scalable solutions and drive alignment on technical direction and investments.
- Set and evolve engineering standards — establish and drive best practices for component architecture, state management, API integration, testing, observability, performance, accessibility, and code quality across multiple teams.
- Design for retail scale and innovation — build reliable, experimentation-ready experiences for high traffic and complex customer journeys; evaluate emerging technologies, prototype solutions, and identify technical risks early.
- Provide organization-level technical leadership — lead architecture and design reviews, mentor engineers across levels, influence decisions beyond your immediate team, and raise the engineering bar across the frontend community.
- Own end-to-end delivery — guide complex features from discovery and technical design through development, testing, deployment, observability, and production support.
- What you’ll bring:
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated experience leading complex technical initiatives and driving architecture and technical direction across multiple teams.
- Deep expertise in React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS, with strong knowledge of modern frontend development and rendering patterns.
- Strong front-end architecture and system design skills, including component architecture, state management, caching, rendering strategies, bundle optimization, frontend modularization, and scalability for high-traffic applications.
- Strong experience designing frontend/backend integration patterns and API contracts using REST; GraphQL design and consumption experience is a plus.
- Deep understanding of web performance, browser behavior, accessibility, web security, responsive design, and engineering quality practices including unit, integration, and E2E testing, CI/CD, observability, debugging, and production support.
- Proven technical leadership with the ability to drive architectural decisions, make sound tradeoffs under uncertainty, mentor engineers, influence without direct authority, and communicate technical strategy to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with Node.js, cloud-native platforms (GCP, Azure), experimentation/A/B testing, design systems, micro-frontends/module federation, or AI-powered web experiences is a plus.

Annual Salary Range
The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Stock
Minimum Qualifications
- Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
- We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
