Job summary

Escalon Services Inc is seeking an experienced US Payroll State Tax professional at Assistant Team Lead level.

The role requires deep knowledge of payroll tax compliance across all US states and jurisdictions, with the ability to independently manage the full lifecycle of state payroll tax activities, including registrations, withholding, SUI/SUTA, tax filings, retroactive cases, reconciliations, and agency communications.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of payroll tax compliance across all US states and jurisdictions.
• Ability to independently manage lifecycle of state payroll tax activities.
• Experience with registrations, de-registrations, filings, reconciliations, and notices.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end state payroll tax registration and de-registration across all US states and jurisdictions.
• Handle State Withholding, SUI/SUTA accounts and other payroll tax accounts.
• Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and state agencies to obtain required information.
• Track registration status, account numbers, effective dates, and filings.
• Ensure closure/de-registration when payroll activity ceases in a state.
• Maintain accurate records of registrations and de-registrations.
• Review payroll tax calculations and resolve discrepancies.
• Support retroactive state tax registrations and filings.
• Respond to state agency inquiries and notices.
