Job summary

Freshfields US LLP in New York is seeking a Risk & Compliance Lawyer to join the Firm’s US Legal Department. The role sits in a hybrid office model with three days in office per week across New York, Raleigh or DC, and requires admission to the US bar.

You will advise on business acceptance, conflicts of interest, sanctions and regulatory issues, perform due diligence, review engagement letters, and train staff on risk and compliance, while collaborating with partners and global teams.

Qualifications

• Must hold a US law degree and be admitted to practice.
• Extensive experience in risk, compliance, and conflicts of interest.
• Excellent drafting, advisory, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise on business acceptance, conflicts, confidentiality and sanctions issues.
• Undertake due diligence and reputational risk assessment of new clients.
• Draft and review client engagement documents and policies.
• Provide training and support on ethics and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with global Legal Department and manage urgent matters.
