Job Description

Our client is seeking a Laboratory Technician II to work within their facilities located in Richmond, California on an initial 12-month assignment (with the possibility of extension or becoming permanent).

Key Accountabilities

1. Operate complex distillation and process laboratory equipment, maintaining round-the-clock operations under the supervision of the lead technician or operator. Equipment includes reactors, research units, and distillation columns.
2. Work at elevated temperatures and pressures, including atmospheric and sub-atmospheric conditions.
3. Participate in Operational Excellence (OE) initiatives individually, within your crew, and the ESU team.
4. Operate process units and utility systems as requested by research scientists and engineers, under supervision.
5. Inspect equipment regularly to detect unsafe or malfunctioning conditions.
6. Follow procedures for new experiments and modifications to process units to ensure safety compliance.
7. Support sample handling activities for research and crude assays for internal and external customers, including other labs.
8. Achieve OE objectives and milestones.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with process equipment and instrumentation.
• Experience with OE for Labs.
• Refinery Operator Training (ROT) experience or attendance.
• Knowledge of chemicals, heavy oils, and distillate research materials.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word.
• Effective communication skills and alignment with Chevron Way behaviors.
• Strong commitment to OE in lab and office environments.
• Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required. Preferred: Associate degree or equivalent in science, technology, mechanical/pipe fitting trades, or related fields.

DuPont Schedule: Day shift with 4 nights, 3 off, 3 days, 1 off, 3 nights, 3 off, 4 days, 7 off.
