Job Description

Due to internal movement, we are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our dynamic team! This part-time, benefits-eligible position will be scheduled for 48 hours per pay period (every two weeks) and will include a mix of days and evenings, including every 4th weekend.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Promote an engaged and positive environment among the laboratory team.
  2. Perform phlebotomy and prepare specimens for analysis to ensure high quality.
  3. Perform computer functions including test requisition, test results, and quality documentation according to protocols.
  4. Conduct high complexity laboratory testing, evaluate specimens, and review patient results for reasonableness.
  5. Maintain instruments through scheduled calibration, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  6. Participate in annual technical competency programs and proficiency testing.
  7. Assist in training new employees, students, and other lab personnel.
  8. Serve on committees and teams, actively participating and completing assigned tasks.
  9. Engage in continuing education activities.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education & Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology (MLT/MLS).
  • ASCP certification required; must be completed within 6 months if eligible.
  • Proof of education (diploma or transcripts).
Skills and Experience
  • Accuracy and precision in work.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency with laboratory information systems.
  • Experience in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, and blood bank required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Experience in microbiology preferred.
