About the Role

Holcim US, a major construction materials producer, is recruiting a full-time Ready-Mix Quality Control Technician for a new project in Texas City, TX. New hires will train in Port Arthur for a few weeks before the project begins, which lasts 18 months.

What You'll Do

• Collect and test concrete and aggregate samples using routine methods and basic arithmetic.
• Adhere to all local, state, MSHA, and environmental regulations, as outlined in the Employee Safe Work Guidelines and other provided rules.
• Perform responsibilities safely.
• Conduct routine testing of aggregate samples (quartering, gradations, washes, moistures, deleterious material).
• Perform basic concrete QC tests: slump, air, temperature, sampling, cylinders, and unit weight.
• Test concrete strength specimens.
• Assist in preparing and testing laboratory concrete trial batches.
• Enter data into the quality reporting system.
• Calibrate lab equipment.
• Maintain laboratory housekeeping.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Promote safety and environmental policies, demonstrating a commitment to a culture of safety.

What We're Looking For

• Basic computer skills, including Word and Excel.
• Basic math and statistics knowledge.
• Ability to obtain ACI concrete and aggregate certifications.
• Excellent driving record.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Two-year technical degree preferred or three years of QC testing experience in construction materials.

Additional Requirements

• Adherence to all safety protocols and proper PPE use, including respirators. Employees requiring respirators must be clean-shaven for proper fit testing.
