Job summary

BBVA in New York seeks a senior professional to expand its Insurance Debt Advisory practice by combining strategic advisory with business development and client engagement. Key duties include originating opportunities, guiding advisory mandates, and strengthening relationships with insurers and rating agencies.

The role requires 8+ years in the insurance sector, deep U.S. life-insurance knowledge, and strong leadership to mentor the team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience in the insurance sector (advisory, actuarial consulting, capital management, ratings, corporate finance, investment banking, or insurance strategy)
• Strong understanding of the U.S. life insurance industry, including RBC, U.S. GAAP, and rating agency methodologies
• Proven track record advising insurers on strategic, capital, financing, rating, or risk management matters
• Demonstrated business development and client relationship management skills with a strong commercial mindset
• Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills to explain complex concepts
• Experience leading complex advisory engagements and mentoring junior professionals
• SIE, Series 79, and Series 63 licenses or must obtain within 3 months of joining

Responsibilities

• Drive business origination and client development with U.S. insurance companies, delivering full BBVA product suite
• Lead Insurance Debt Advisory mandates, including analysis, strategic recommendations, and transaction oversight
• Develop trusted relationships with senior client executives and market stakeholders
• Provide leadership and mentorship within the Insurance Debt Advisory team and ensure high-quality output
