Headquartered in the UK, with offices in London, Manchester and Nottingham, we are now expanding our operation to the US. We’re looking for a US General Manager to help us launch and scale our operation in North America.

Job Summary

The US GM is a pivotal position within Impression’s management team (MT). They report to and work closely with the Commercial Director ,developing and managing the financial growth of the US business and ensuring it is both compliant and runs efficiently.

This is a varied role and interfaces across the agency, however, the primary focus will be to drive the growth of the US business through a broad range of New Business, Marketing and Operational activities. The chosen candidate will be an entrepreneur at heart with a passion for thinking strategically.

Success will be measured by the success of our sales revenue and both the growth rate and profitability level of Impression’s US P&L.

Responsibilities
Sales:

- Design and develop Impression’s US growth strategy to generate high-value, relevant opportunities for the agency.

- Lead the outbound new business acquisition strategy within the North American market.

- Act as a consultative sales expert across Impression’s core service offerings, including Paid Search (PPC), Paid Social, Programmatic Display & Video, Connected TV, DOOH, SEO, Content, Digital PR, Social & Influencer, Performance Creative, Digital Experience (CRO & CRM), Analytics, and Measurement (including Incrementality Testing & MMM).

- Manage and win high-complexity, multi-channel performance marketing opportunities. Work with internal and external stakeholders to optimize the pitch process and achieve an industry-leading US conversion rate (40%+).

- Establish KPIs and a robust measurement framework alongside the Commercial Director, to track the success of Impression’s US growth strategy.

-Oversee and enhance prospecting efforts, ensuring a comprehensive and continuously updated CRM that is leveraged to its full capability.

- Collaborate with Impression’s Marketing team to develop content that resonates with targeted US prospects.

-Develop and maintain US audience personas, ensuring continuous engagement and nurturing contacts into opportunities.

-Achieve annual sales targets through a mix of inbound and outbound sales tactics.

-Stay informed on key competitors and their value propositions, working with the agency to refine Impression’s competitive positioning and improve win rates in competitive pitches.

-Negotiate commercial contracts effectively, ensuring growth targets are met while maintaining a strong contractual position, with support from our in-house legal counsel (Head of Operations) and US partners (law and accounting firms).

Client Delivery & Agency Operations:

-Ensure all US accounts receive a high standard of service and meet clients' performance expectations in collaboration with Impression’s Managing Partners and Client Success team.

- Adapt and implement relevant client-centric initiatives to drive Account Growth, Retention, and Profitability within the US business.

- Maintain a strong commercial and contractual position with US clients, ensuring targeted renewal rates are met each year.

- Act as an executive sponsor for key US accounts, building strategic partnerships with senior stakeholders to elevate relationships and introduce Impression’s full-service offering to support client growth.

-Support Impression’s leadership team in ensuring US business operations comply with all local laws and regulations.

-Support Department Directors with resourcing requirements through reporting on opportunities, probabilities and expected start dates

-Support Department Heads with local/geographic knowledge including identification of relevant geographic freelance/contractor requirements where required

-Work alongside Impression’s Finance team to support with the set up of client billing, credit risk checks and escalation of non-payment

-Utilise Impression’s in-house ERP solution for client/account management and resourcing, including raising improvement opportunities with our Systems team (typically geographic improvements).

Leadership & Management:

- Partner with Impression’s People Director to embed Impression’s culture in the US office, leading by example and embodying the company’s values and behaviours.

-Support US recruitment strategies, building a team of local expert talent that aligns with Impression’s mission to set a new standard of excellence through its people

Requirements:

- An entrepreneurial background or a hunger to start and grow something yourself.

-Experience of setting up and running a US business, including accountability for compliance across legal and employment criteria is a bonus.

-A proven track record of successfully pitching and winning new business opportunities

-Very good knowledge of the appropriateness and effectiveness of Impression’s full suite of digital marketing activities listed above.

-Exceptional enterprise-level client management skills, giving great experiences that delight, without compromising on doing what is right for the brand.

-An expert in pitch strategy and leading pitch teams with a proven track record of winning accounts with annual billings of over $500k.

-Experience in shaping and influencing both marketing and sales strategies to ensure growth objectives can be met.

-Experience working within a Senior Management Team of a business, driving change through all levels through collaborative working and effective decision-making.
