Job summary

Barclays in New York seeks a US Bank Regulatory Legal Director to join its Global Legal Team. The role is permanent and based in New York, reporting to the Head of U.S. Bank Regulatory Legal, and serving as lead counsel for regulatory matters within the US group.

You will advise on bank regulatory matters, collaborate with senior stakeholders, and drive risk-based, practical solutions across cross-functional teams with a focus on regulatory capital, governance, and supervision.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of legal experience advising on bank regulatory matters
• Experience with Federal Reserve, NY DFS, OCC, FDIC regulators
• Experience at a leading law firm or major financial institution
• Experience assessing regulatory risk in time-sensitive, high-profile situations
• Proven track record leading cross-functional regulatory initiatives
• Independent management of complex domestic and cross-border matters
• Knowledge of governance, risk, and control frameworks in banking
• Ability to engage senior management and regulators effectively
• New York law license

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement best practice legal strategies for risk management and compliance.
• Provide regulatory advice and support on regulatory affairs, risk management, and transactional matters.
• Represent the bank in regulatory proceedings, including litigation, arbitration, and investigations.
• Review legislation and regulation to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
• Conduct legal research on changes in laws affecting operations.
• Develop and deliver training on applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and communicate legal advice on LRRs and reflect in policies and controls.
