Job summary

Scotiabank is seeking a Director, Regulatory Relations Group, U.S. to lead and coordinate regulatory engagements for the U.S. operations within GBM. You will oversee examinations, remediation efforts, and regulatory governance while partnering with senior leaders across lines of defense.

You will manage a team, ensure effective communications with regulators and internal stakeholders, and drive strategy to address evolving regulatory expectations in a fast-paced financial services environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree (MBA/JD) a plus.
• 10+ years of senior regulatory or financial services experience.
• Deep understanding of financial markets, products and control functions.
• Excellent written and oral communication with strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a team of professionals and multitask under deadlines.
• Strong proficiency with MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate interactions with U.S. regulators and manage examinations.
• Provide oversight for regulatory examinations and act as central regulator contact.
• Lead a high‑performing team and ensure clear communications with supervisors.
• Guide business units and control functions on regulatory matters.
• Develop and coordinate regulatory responses with senior stakeholders.
• Monitor remediation commitments and participate in governance forums.
• Oversee centralized issue management and document repositories.
• Identify regulatory risks and escalate appropriately.
• Prepare for new regulatory mandates and ensure day‑to‑day risk controls.
• Foster an inclusive, high‑performing environment and manage succession.
