Job summary

Essen Health Care in New York City is seeking a Physician Assistant to support our surgical and clinical teams. The role focuses on interpreting tests, planning patient discharge, and assisting surgeons in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The ideal candidate holds a NYS PA license, NCCPA certification, a DEA certificate, BLS, and a graduate PA program diploma; you will participate in coordinated care across ED, nursing homes, and specialty services while upholding our equal-opportunity

• Bachelor's Degree required
• Current BLS certification required
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program, required
• Current NCCPA board certification, required
• D.E.A. Certificate, required
• Licensed Physician Assistant by the New York State Department of Education, required
• Infection Control Certificate, required

Responsibilities

• Interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests;
• Answers consults from the ED and other wards for Urology and Orthopedics;
• Evaluates and provides appropriate intervention (in conjunction with supervising surgeon) for ER and nursing home patients;
• Implements therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when appropriate;
• Formulates and implements discharge planning and clinical follow-up in conjunction with surgeon;
• Performs first assistant duties in all surgical procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor s Degree required;
• Current BLS certification required;
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program, required;
• Current Board Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), required;
• D.E.A. Certificate, required;
• Licensed Physician Assistant by the New York State Department of Education, required;
• Infection Control Certificate, required
