Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required for the state where practicing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 45 days unless exempt
• Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing program

Responsibilities

• Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and documenting health information
• Performs laboratory procedures using aseptic technique and standard precautions
• Assists provider with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams and colposcopy
• Administers medications under orders, including immunizations and IV therapy within scope
• Provides patient education on tasks, treatments and self-care
• Documents patient information and coordinates referrals as needed
• Performs advanced clinical tasks under supervision with competency
