Job summary

Advocate Health seeks an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the Urology team. The role focuses on patient preparation for exams, lab testing, and assisting with procedures under physician direction.

The LPN administers medications, monitors patient responses, and provides education while maintaining chart accuracy and safety. Collaboration with physicians and nursing staff is essential, with adherence to BLS and department policies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for exams by taking vital signs and updating health information.
• Perform labs and specimen collection using aseptic technique.
• Assist physicians with procedures and surgeries.
• Administer medications under orders, including vaccines and IV therapy as allowed.
• Provide patient education on tasks, treatments, and self-care.
• Coordinate tests, prescriptions, and referrals as needed.
• Communicate patient status and questions to the health care team.
• Perform advanced clinical tasks under supervision (e.g., sutures removal, catheterization).
• Maintain and stock exam and lab rooms and ensure equipment readiness.
