Job summary

University of California - San Diego Medical Centers is seeking a Medical Assistant to support back-office clinical operations in Urology. The role reports to the nurse manager and works with licensed staff to assist providers, manage equipment, schedule appointments, and maintain patient flow.

Required CMA/MA certification or completion of a MA program, BART/BLS at hire (with six-month goal to obtain), and 2+ years of MA experience.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
• BART or BLS certification at hire with commitment to obtain BART within six months.
• Two years or more of Medical Assistant experience, preferably in a large healthcare system.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care, environmental care functions, and equipment use.
• Ability to take initiative, prioritize demands and work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• All aspects of back-office medical assistant duties, including equipment and supply management.
• Appointment scheduling, patient check-in, authorizations, and accurate billing.
• Documentation assistance for providers and environment cleaning/disinfection.
• Operate back-office equipment such as scope processor, uroflow, bladder scanner, and EKG as trained.
