Job description

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. The award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending applicants may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who initially met the qualification standards are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible)
• Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an approved school
• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S.
• Completed residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification
• Enrolled residents in ACGME/AOA accredited programs are eligible as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Preferred: Urology background
• Physical ability to perform all activities of the position

Duties

• This is an open continuous announcement; qualified applicants will be referred weekly.
• Serve as an Urologist within the Department of Surgery at Fayetteville VA Medical Center, VA Mid Atlantic Healthcare Network (VISN 6).
• Provide comprehensive urologic services in inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring compliance with policies.
• Responsible for clinical and administrative duties, including participation in staff meetings, clinical management, quality oversight, and system improvements.
• Perform a broad range of urological procedures, managing patients with complex medical issues.
• Maintain privileges and practice in their specialty, with privileges approved by the Professional Standards Board.
• Supervised directly by the Chief of Surgery, with performance appraisals conducted accordingly.

• Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
