Job description

Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. The award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (1 to 5 years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending completion of training or licensing requirements, applicants may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial appointment requirements are deemed to have met the basic standards.

Basic Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only when recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible)
• Doctor of medicine or equivalent degree from an approved school
• Current, full, and unrestricted medical or surgical license in the U.S.
• Completion of approved residency training in an accredited program leading to board eligibility
• Enrolled residents in approved programs are eligible as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee basis
• Proficiency in English
• Preferred: 1-3 years of outpatient and operating room urology experience; board-certified urologist
• Physical requirements: Light lifting, use of fingers, both hands, both legs, and both eyes

Duties
