Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Phoenix seeks a Urologic Staff Surgeon to provide outpatient and inpatient urologic care within the Surgical Care Service. The role includes performing cystoscopy and related procedures, with duties in OR, hospital rounds, and clinics.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required (non-citizens only where allowed by policy)
• MD or equivalent degree from VA-approved school
• Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia
• VA‑approved core specialty training leading to board certification or equivalent training/experience
• Proficiency in spoken and written English

Responsibilities

• Open continuous announcement; remains open until October 1 2026
• Operate as a Urologic Staff Surgeon in the Surgical Care Service at Phoenix VA Health Care System, performing outpatient and inpatient urologic surgery examinations, diagnoses, and treatment
• Diagnose and treat medical and surgical disorders, conduct evaluations and work-ups, admit urologic surgery patients as needed
• Perform clinical duties in the operating room, inpatient rounds, emergency department, and outpatient clinics, including urologic procedures
• May supervise residents and medical students rotating through the service
• Participate in urologic surgery night-call and emergency procedures
• Provide patient education regarding disease state and treatment regimens
• Recruitment incentive: sign-on bonus may be authorized; Relocation assistance: PCS authorized
• Complete electronic clinical daily charting and documentation; consult with Medical Center staff
