Job summary

PetMedicUrgent Care Vet Clinic in Portland, ME is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our urgent care team. The role offers $21.00–$26.00 hourly pay and a fast-paced environment with ongoing training and collaboration with experienced doctors to deliver high-quality care.

You will work with modern technology, maintain accurate patient records, assist in exams, and support surgical preparation while enjoying benefits such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus a 401(k)

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Veterinary Assistant role.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to pet patients and their loved ones
• Keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy
• Prepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areas
• Perform physical assessments and record observations
• Prepare estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments with clients
• Explain necessary follow-up and home care instructions
• Stock clinic treatment area and inform inventory manager when supplies need to be ordered
• Care for all surgical materials and keep the operating room stocked and prepared for surgery
• Ability to multi-task and adapt in a fast-paced environment
• Able to commit to evening shifts and weekends
