Job summary

LifeLong Medical Care is seeking an Urgent Care Physician to deliver medical care in an outpatient setting without pre-scheduled appointments. The physician reports to the Associate Medical Director and works with a multidisciplinary team to provide timely diagnosis, treatment, and preventive care for acute and chronic conditions.

• Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions with prescriptive authority or referrals.
• Counsels patients and families on preventative care and community resources.
• Responds to emergencies and changes in patient condition.
• Collaborates with Physician Director and multidisciplinary team to implement orders and care plans.
• Adheres to OSHA, HIPAA, and state/federal regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Overview

The Urgent Care Physician provides medical care or advice to a patient when a primary care physician is not available. They do not require an appointment, and they typically offer treatment or medicine in an outpatient clinic. The Urgent Care Physician reports directly to the Associate Medical Director.

Job Duties

• Promotes excellence in healthcare for services including minor injury care, illness care, and on-site X-Ray services for the local community.
• Must be comfortable being a solo provider with Physician Director access by phone.
• Provides for the expansion of individualized primary healthcare services by diagnosing and treating certain acute or chronic health conditions.
• Obtain patient history and perform assessment via observation, interview, and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations, and patient care.
• Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
• Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate care to the patient population in the area of assigned responsibility.
• Responds to emergencies and to changes in condition of assigned patients.
• Collaborates with Physician Director and other caregivers of multidisciplinary team. Assumes joint responsibility with the medical staff to ensure that orders and plan of care, as they relate to the patient care, are appropriately carried out.
• Collaborates to establish criteria and guidelines for auditing practice in area of specialty.
• Compliance with state and federal rules and regulations (OSHA, HIPAA, etc.).
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
