SouthStar Clinics in Opelousas, LA is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our urgent care and occupational medicine team. You will deliver outpatient care, manage referrals, and support a patient-first environment in a well-established network.

You will work with experienced clinical teams, modern facilities, and leadership that values your input. Compensation is competitive with opportunities for growth, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted PA or NP license in the state or the ability to obtain
• DOT certification within 60 days of hire
• DEA licensure

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient care in an urgent care setting
• Deliver care, treatment, and referrals
• Arrange referrals for specialties not provided
• Evaluate patients with exams to diagnose and plan treatment
• Perform procedures within scope to benefit patients
• Explain diagnoses and treatment goals to patients
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR with CDI focus
• Provide occupational and telemedicine patient care
• Perform non-patient facing duties such as lab and x-ray review
• Perform other duties as assigned by Medical Director

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Provide patient care on an outpatient basis to include procedures normally performed in an urgent care setting
• Responsible for the delivery of care, treatment, and referrals.
• Arrange for referral resources for those medical specialties not provided by the organization for patients of the clinic
• Evaluate patients to determine the medical condition of the patient, through the performance of physical examinations, thereby, establishing a diagnosis and proposed treatment plan
• Perform such clinical procedures for patient's benefit which are within scope and skill of practitioner
• Communicate information to patients regarding diagnosis and treatment goals
• Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation with a focus on proper level coding and clinical documentation integrity (CDI) in the electronic medical record
• Ability to perform occupational and telemedicine patient care
• Perform non-patient facing duties such as lab and x-ray review
• Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Medical Director

What’s Required:

• Current, unrestricted PA or NP license in thestateor the ability to obtain
• Ability to obtain:
  • DOT certification within60 daysof hire
  • DEA licensure
• Knowledge of treatment and drug interactions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Compensation:

Pay is based on experience, skills and falls within an established range.
