Job summary

Prisma Health Urgent Care on James Island, SC is seeking a patient‑focused Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for PRN/part‑time, on-site roles delivering high‑quality urgent care.

The role emphasizes teamwork, rapid assessment, procedures like suturing, reads EKGs, maintains documentation, and collaborates with center physicians. Candidates must be board certified/board eligible and licensed in SC, with DEA, DOT, BLS, and urgent care experience.

Qualifications

• Board Certified (or Board Eligible) and Licensed to practice medicine in the state of practice.
• Advanced degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program of study.
• Licensed Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in accordance with the state of South Carolina.
• Current DEA registration.
• Must be DOT certified.
• Experience with procedures including suturing and drainage of abscesses.
• Experience with reading diagnostic studies including x-rays and EKGs.
• BLS certification (we will provide this if needed).
• Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing set forth by WellStreet Urgent Care.
• Experience in Urgent Care, Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, evaluate, and implement high quality medical care with appropriate resource management for adults and children in cooperation with center physicians.
• Deliver the highest standard of patient satisfaction.
• Provide patient care compliant with policies and bylaws.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate to facilitate patient care and reimbursement.
• Complete necessary documentation and facilitate communication for care and reimbursement.
• Participate in meetings/activities to support operations of the urgent care.
• Maintain certification in BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS, or NALS and any additional specialty training as required.

Education

Advanced degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program of study

Licensed Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in accordance with the state of South Carolina

Current DEA registration

DOT certification

BLS certification

Experience in Urgent Care, Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine
