Job summary

ChristianaCare-GoHealth Urgent Care is hiring a Medical Assistant to support examination and treatment of patients under urgent care physicians. You will handle check-in, vital signs, blood draws, specimen preparation, and room setup.

Responsibilities include conducting patient interviews, documenting medical history, coordinating referrals, and performing point-of-care tests as needed. Strong communication and teamwork are essential in a fast-paced urgent care setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Graduate of Medical Assisting Program preferred.
• BLS certification required at the time of hire (ARC or AHA).
• One of the following MA certifications required at hire: CCMA CMA RMA NCMA NRCMA.
• CPOE certification required within two weeks of start date.
• In lieu of MA cert, Nursing/LPN/RN or EMT acceptable at hire.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify insurance and eligibility.
• Process co-pays and schedule appointments.
• Coordinate referrals to specialists.
• Answer patient questions and provide status updates.
• Prepare patients for examination and record medical history.
• Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis) and ECG as needed.
• Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms and reception areas.
• Maintain medical records and scan charts into patient files.
