Job summary

American Family Care in Worcester, MA is seeking a Medical Assistant to blend clinical care with front-desk and insurance verification duties in a fast-paced urgent care setting.

You will triage, collect vitals, draw blood, perform CLIA-waived tests, and ensure accurate EMR entries while educating patients on procedures and financial expectations. Evening/weekend availability may be required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1 year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain before starting).
• Urgent care or ER experience valued.
• EMR proficiency; familiarity with payer portals.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients; collect vitals and histories.
• Perform venipuncture and CLIA-waived point-of-care testing.
• Assist with procedures, wound care, EKGs, and nebulizer therapy.
• Register patients, verify eligibility, determine financial responsibility; collect co-pays.
