Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a part-time Licensed Practical Nurse for an immediate care clinic in Huntersville, NC. The role involves triage, exam preparation, and a range of labs and procedures under supervision.

You will support physicians, administer medications, and contribute to patient education and care coordination. The position requires completion of an accredited LPN program, BLS certification, and strong communication, organization and computer skills.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organization, prioritization and problem solving skills.
• Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a Windows OS, and use of electronic mail with exposure to EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information (e.g. chief complaint, allergies, medications).
• Performs laboratory procedures (e.g. strep test, wound culture, specimen collection) using aseptic technique.
• Assists the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries.
• Administers medications under physician/provider orders, including immunizations, antibiotics, pain medications, vitamins, topical agents, and insulin; initiates, maintains and discontinues IV therapy within scope.
• Provides patient education and coordinates test requests, prescriptions, referrals, and appointment scheduling.
• Communicates with physicians and other health care team members; documents patient information accurately.
• Performs advanced clinical tasks under supervision (e.g., sutures removal, catheterization, EKG, casting, wound care).
• Maintains exam rooms, labs, and equipment; stocks supplies and handles basic housekeeping tasks.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and age-appropriate patient care.
